Georgia
"Georgia has the second-highest rate of maternal mortality of 48.4 per 100,000. Georgia’s maternal mortality review issued a 2017 report that said the areas of highest concern include inadequate follow-up of cardiovascular symptoms in pregnant women and failure to recognize and treat hypertension or hemorrhages soon enough. Researchers have reported that in more than one-third of cases, they were unsure of when prenatal care began for mothers and confirmed that some who died received more prenatal care at all. Black mothers in Georgia are more likely to die from pregnancy, as they are in the rest of the United States, and especially in the state’s rural areas." - World Population Review
Texas
Texas has ‘alarmingly’ high maternal, infant mortality rates. While the U.S. as a whole already has a relatively high preterm birth rate of 10.4 percent, Texas is even worse, with a preterm birth rate of 11.3 percent. Houston’s is larger still, at 12.1 percent, meaning one in every eight babies born in the Houston area is premature. - Houston Public Media

Women denied care
"We worry a lot about vulnerable little babies," said Barbara Levy, vice president for health policy/advocacy at the American Congress of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG) and a member of the Council on Patient Safety in Women's Health Care. Meanwhile, "we don't pay enough attention to those things that can be catastrophic for women." - NPR
Takeaway: Pregnancy should not be a death sentence. Vote for Kamala Harris and Democrats to protect your freedom to choose when and with whom to have a family.
